Jones Day has served clients in Texas for nearly thirty years and in Houston for nine.  Since opening in 2001, Jones Day Houston has developed into a full-service office with approximately sixty attorneys who are well-positioned to counsel businesses regarding transactions or disputes in Texas, in addition to Texas-based clients with operations and investments throughout the world.

When Jones Day arrived in Houston, it combined a group of longtime Houston lawyers with Jones Day lawyers from other cities who had moved to Houston for the opportunity to develop a new office with its own special culture. This mix, along with the infusion of new talent at all levels, has created a vibrant and growing office that captures the best that Houston and Jones Day have to offer.  Our relatively small size creates a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.  Yet our practice here in Houston - a city that is second only to New York in number of corporate headquarters - is sophisticated and challenging: we advise clients on significant mergers and acquisitions; we work with clients to get new pipelines and liquefied natural gas terminals built; we try high-stakes cases in state and federal courts and litigate appeals; and we counsel clients on a wide variety of labor and employment, intellectual property, restructuring, environmental and other matters.

Our attorneys provide pro bono legal services to numerous special assistance organizations, including the Houston Volunteer Lawyer Program.  Our attorneys also actively support a broad range of non-legal charitable organizations working throughout Southeast Texas, including Casa de Esperanza, which provides shelter to children who have been victims of abuse or neglect or who have been stricken with HIV and AIDS, and the United Way – Texas Gulf Coast Chapter.
