About the Fellowship

Jones Day International Legal Fellowship

The Jones Day International Legal Fellowship ("Fellowship") is designed to identify and support exceptional legal talents in China. The Firm grants these Fellowships every year to outstanding Chinese law students. Since 2001, Jones Day has awarded a total of 219 Fellowships to law students in ChinaWinners include law students who have outstanding academic records, display original and creative thought, have strong communication skills in English and Chinese, and have shown an exceptional interest and promise in the legal profession.

Recognition of Jones Day and of the Fellowship has been growing since the initiative started, and the Fellowship, and the Firm itself, has become well respected amongst Beijing and Shanghai’s law students. Over the years, more and more students have applied for the Fellowship, from only 54 students in 2001, 164 in 2017, and 160 in 2018. Several Fellowship winners have joined Jones Day Beijing and Shanghai as interns, paralegals and associates.
