Billing Assistant, Firm Billing & Collection Services (BCS)

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Billing Assistant is responsible for all aspects of drafting and finalizing client bills. These responsibilities include: collaborating with Client Services Lawyers (CSL), legal secretaries, and others to ensure timely billing and collection; monitoring unbilled time; generating proformas; drafting bills; and confirming bills conform to billing arrangements. The Billing Assistant performs manual calculations, prepares write-up/write-down forms, obtains approvals, and prepares bill reports, fee and disbursement summaries and final bill. The Billing Assistant communicates with clients to resolve billing/collection issues, collaborates with CSLs on engagement letters, etc., and maintains client billing folders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience using Aderant or similar database system preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
