Business Development & Communications Coordinator

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Coordinator, Business Development & Communications is responsible for supporting the business development efforts of the Singapore office, including but not limited to events planning and execution, industry and target research, distribution of Firm publications, assistance with proposals, and arrangements for client-related entertainment. The Coordinator, Business Development & Communications reports directly to the Regional Manager, Business Development & Communications and Firm Associate Director, Business Development & Communications, where applicable. In performing this role, the Coordinator, Business Development & Communications is expected to demonstrate initiative, set priorities, ensure timely and accurate completion of assignments, and comply with Firm policies and procedures. The Coordinator, Business Development & Communications is also expected to assist in other BD-related functions, including for example helping with tracking of client interactions and client targeting, and with the preparation of internal BD-related documents (such as slide decks for internal BD-related meetings). The Coordinator, Business Development & Communications is expected to perform all job duties with a commitment to producing quality work product as part of a global team.

Required Qualifications:

  • University-level degree.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a business development and/or marketing role in a business and/or professional services environment.
  • Minimum three years of experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Fluent in English and possess excellent oral and written English skills.

Proposals Coordinator (Hong Kong or Singapore)

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Working as part of the global Business Acquisition Unit (“BAU”), the Proposals Coordinator supports all aspects of responding to RFPs and creating proposals and pitches, including developing drafts, finalizing the end product, overseeing submission to the client or prospective client, and follow-up to determine the result. The Proposals Coordinator is expected to perform all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to clients, producing quality work products, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Proposals Coordinator must fulfill the needs of the Firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm’s visions and values. The Proposals Coordinator can be located in Jones Day’s Hong Kong or Singapore office, and must be able to fluently speak, write and read English (bilingual capability is preferred). Standard office hours, although occasional night and weekend work may be required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational, time, and project management skills, able to handle many tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral communication and business writing/editing skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork, able to establish effective working relationships across regional, practice, and Firm lines.
  • University-level degree, minimum three years of experience in a business and/or professional services environment, experience in the legal environment preferred.
