Proposals Manager (EU)

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Working as part of the global Business Acquisition Unit (“BAU”), the Proposals Manager will be based in Jones Day’s Paris or London office and will be responsible for RFP responses, proposals, and pitches, primarily in Europe, but sometimes for other regions. This will include managing, writing, and delivering high-value RFP responses, proposals, pitches, and capability statements that will, in turn, reinforce the Jones Day brand, retain existing clients, and help win new work for the Firm. The Proposals Manager must be able to fluently speak, write and read English (bilingual capability is highly preferred). Standard office hours, although occasional night and weekend work may be required. The Proposals Manager is expected to perform all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to clients, producing quality work products, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Proposals Manager must fulfill the needs of the Firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm’s visions and values.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral communication and business writing/editing skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork, able to establish effective working relationships across regional, practice, and Firm lines.
  • Four-year college degree, advanced degree (MBA, MA, MS, JD) a plus; minimum five years of experience in a business and/or professional services environment (preferably as a dedicated proposals professional); minimum two years of experience in the legal environment preferred.

Recognition & Awards Specialist

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with a global team of business development professionals, and reporting to the Manager, Recognition & Awards, the Specialist, Recognition & Awards will support operational, procedural, and submission development aspects of the Recognition & Awards team. The Specialist will track, organize, update and maintain a global calendar of deadlines related to submissions for Legal Directories and List & Awards; lawyer biographies for Chambers; and Firm profiles for both Chambers and Legal 500. The Specialist will seek and facilitate approvals for referees to be included in Legal Directory and List & Award submissions, which includes tracking, organizing, and coordinating referee lists, as well as referee database uploads. The Specialist will perform basic tallies and analyses related to ranking and award outcomes to aid in preparation of website and promotional announcements and infographics and archive, update, and maintain completed submissions for easy-access and repurposing considerations. The Specialist will assist with editorial development of written submissions and marketing announcements for digital production and posting, to include proofing and other enhancements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree required. Experience in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or English preferred.
  • Strong deadline orientation with an ability to handle multiple time-sensitive requests often of varying nature and sometimes across time zones.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of online applications and database. Working knowledge of data uploads to databases and online applications.
  • Law firm or professional service firm experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines.

Trainee Recruitment Assistant

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Trainee Recruitment Assistant will be responsible for providing support in the effective and timely recruitment of trainee solicitors for the London Office. This is a diverse role with the opportunity to develop quickly and take ownership of projects. Including (but not limited to): Supporting the team in maintaining and distributing all print and on-line advertising and vacancy publications; maintaining and developing social media strategy in line with marketing objectives and within Firm branding guidelines; promoting events; liaising with universities, students and diversity partners; monitoring/maintaining Firm career webpages, liaising with US head office and update regularly, and at least at the start of each recruitment year; supporting the team in ad-hoc marketing projects such as photo and video shoots; assist with the delivery of marketing strategy and build relationships with universities and careers advisors to attract talented candidates for our graduate programme; organising and booking recruitment events; attending graduate recruitment events internally or at universities around the UK (this will include some evenings); organising and coordinating busy interview schedules; organising the Placement Scheme programme; attending events during Placement Schemes; responding to queries; managing enquiries from initial contact to closure; monitoring on-line applications daily and assist the team to ensure new applications are processed accurately, professional and in a timely manner; monitor candidate records and correspondence daily in order to comply with our GDPR and retention policy; processing invoices and candidate expenses; support with research projects and monitoring the legal and graduate recruitment market; production of reports; and taking an active involvement in ad hoc projects as required by the team.
