Diversity, Inclusion & Advancement

Jones Day is committed to diversity and to the development, inclusion, and advancement of all of our lawyers. Jones Day has established affinity groups to facilitate networking, increase visibility, and to support, encourage, and share information on activities in the local offices. These are our affinity groups: Firmwide Women's Affinity Group; Firmwide LGBTQ+ Affinity Group, Firmwide Black Lawyers Affinity Group; and Firmwide Hispanic Lawyers Affinity Group.

The Firm proudly supports the many Firmwide and local initiatives spearheaded by Jones Day lawyers around the globe, in addition to supporting various affinity, law school, and pipeline organizations. In the United States, the Firm is currently a sponsor/member of:

  • Lambda Legal, the oldest LGBT civil rights organization in the country.
  • Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), an organization of more than 225 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession.
  • Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), whose mission is to advance the hiring, retention, and promotion of diverse attorneys through publishing, research, training, pipeline initiatives, and networking.
  • National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) and the association's law school chapters (BLSA) are representative of the many diverse law student organizations Jones Day has supported.
  • Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), the nation's leading advocate for Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, legal assistants, law students, and other legal professionals in the United States.
  • National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), the national association of Asian Pacific American legal professionals representing the interests of over 40,000 attorneys and approximately 70 national, state, and local Asian Pacific bar associations.

Since 2010, Jones Day has partnered with and continues to help expand Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO). Jones Day employs at least eight SEO interns each summer. The SEO Career program provides internships and training to top caliber undergraduates from ethnic minority backgrounds. "No law firm accepts SEO interns in as many cities as Jones Day. The Firm has been a leader in the expansion of the program…" William Goodloe, President and CEO of SEO.
